Permissions
- Permission RolesPermission roles determine which permissions users or groups have, from read-only access to full editing rights. They apply to the current element and are inherited by the elements below it.
- User TypesThe user type determines how a user can work in Octaved Flow and how they are licensed: standard users for internal staff, guest users with limited access, virtual users without login, and API users for system integrations.
Billing
- StatusThe status controls what can happen to a project, sub-project, or work package: Open allows work and time tracking, Suspended pauses it, Approved for final billing signals the billing team, and Closed marks it as finished.
- Billing typesTarget effort or billing types define how a work package's effort is planned, tracked, and billed to the customer, from effort-based types to fixed price, contingent, and free of charge. In simple mode, the target effort or billing type is selected automatically, depending on whether hours are specified or not.
- Default setting for price category per userThe default setting for the price category is specified per user and can be found in the user settings.

Project Planning
- Planning DependenciesWith a time-based dependency, the successor moves along when the predecessor is moved. With a trigger, the successor starts once the predecessor is done. Both methods can be combined, and only relevant predecessors count towards the planning status.
- Hide Empty Sub ProjectsWhen enabled, sub-projects that contain no work packages, or none that match the current filters, are hidden. This is particularly useful in combination with label filters, for example to only see sub-projects with problems.
General
- LabelsLabels let you mark projects, sub-projects, work packages, and time tracking entries, for example for priorities, workflows, or controlling. Labels are defined centrally.
- Allow File Protocol LinksThis feature lets you open files on drives or drive shares (file:// links) from the link list in the board directly in Windows Explorer. It requires Windows, Microsoft Edge, and some configuration by your Windows administrator.
