Hide Empty Sub Projects
When enabled, sub-projects that contain no work packages, or none that match the current filters, are hidden. This is particularly useful in combination with label filters, for example to only see sub-projects with problems.
If you activate this setting, empty sub-projects will not be displayed. Sub-projects are either empty because they do not contain any work packages or because no work packages are to be displayed for them under the current filter settings.
The option to hide empty sub-projects is very useful, for example, in connection with labels.
Example A: You have added a label Problem to work packages. To see all work packages with a problem, you filter under Filter work packages for the label Problem. If you now activate the setting Hide empty sub-projects, you will only see sub-projects that have a problem. So you don't have to click through the sub-projects to find work packages with the label Problem.
Example B: You have added the Problem label to board posts where there is a problem. To see all work packages that have board posts with a problem, you filter for the Problem label under Filter board posts. Just like in example A, you can then display only those sub-projects where there are work packages with a problem of a board post.
With the board you can create not only posts for work packages, but also "superordinate" for sub-projects or projects. These posts could also have a label problem. So there can also be direct hits for filtering in projects and sub-projects. These are always shown regardless of setting to show empty sub-projects and regardless of whether there are work packages to be shown.
The filtering described here and the approach with labels are very useful when you meet for regular project status meetings. Then you can see the problem cases at a glance. By the way, you can also define different types of problem labels.
